Continuing education (CE)

ABOUT CAPCE
The Commission on Accreditation for Pre-Hospital Continuing Education (CAPCE) is the national accrediting body for EMS continuing education. Supported by leading EMS organizations, including the National Registry of EMTs (NREMT), the National Association of EMS Educators (NAEMSE), the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP), and the National Association of EMS Physicians (NAEMSP), CAPCE sets the standard for quality, consistent CE that EMS professionals can trust.
To earn CAPCE accreditation, education must meet rigorous requirements, including active medical direction, sound educational design, valid post-course evaluations, and proper record-keeping. The Wisconsin EMS Association is a CAPCE-accredited organization, and every class session at WEMSA 2027 is CAPCE-accredited, including keynotes and Pre-Con workshops.
What does that mean for you? CAPCE-accredited hours are accepted by both the State of Wisconsin and the NREMT, so every class you attend at WEMSA 2027 counts toward your State and National Registry relicensing requirements.
To meet CAPCE standards, all attendees must be properly scanned into EACH class they attend, be present for a majority of the course time, and complete the required post survey for EACH class at surveys.wisconsinems.com in order to receive their certificate. Attendees who are not scanned in or who do not complete the survey cannot be issued CE credit for that class.

ABOUT NAAC
The National Academy of Ambulance Compliance (NAAC) is the nation’s leading source for ambulance-industry certification in billing, coding, compliance, privacy, and financial management. Founded in 2008 and operated by PWW Advisory Group, NAAC is widely regarded as the industry’s “Gold Standard of Excellence” in compliance, ethics, and integrity across all areas of ambulance operations.
NAAC offers specialized certifications for EMS leaders and administrative professionals:
- Certified Ambulance Coder (CAC)
- Certified Ambulance Compliance Officer (CACO)
- Certified Ambulance Financial Officer (CAFO)
- Certified Ambulance Privacy Officer (CAPO)
- Certified Ambulance Public Relations Officer (CAPRO)
These certifications are maintained through annual continuing education, which is where WEMSA comes in.
At WEMSA 2027, 19 sessions have been approved for NAAC CEUs in addition to their CAPCE accreditation. Supervisors, chiefs, compliance officers, billers, and administrators can earn credit toward NAAC recertification while also earning CEUs for State and NREMT relicensure. Each approved session’s description on our Classes page lists how many NAAC CEUs it offers and which certifications they apply to.
To receive a NAAC certificate, attendees must meet the same requirements as for CAPCE credit. You must be properly scanned into EACH class, be present for a majority of the course time, and complete the required post survey for EACH class, where you will indicate that you would like a NAAC certificate.
