WEMSA 2025 Code of Conduct

Overview

All Attendees at Wisconsin EMS Association (WEMSA) events are expected to show respect for all individuals regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, disability, ethnicity, religion, or personal characteristics.  WEMSA encourages members or attendees to identify and report to the WEMSA Staff any person(s) who engages in inappropriate, unprofessional, and harassing activities.

Expected Behavior

WEMSA expects all Attendees to be considerate, respectful, and collaborative and refrain from demeaning, discriminatory, or harassing behavior and speech.  Attendees should be mindful of their surroundings and fellow attendees – alert event organizers if you notice a dangerous situation or someone in distress.

Unacceptable Behavior

Unacceptable behaviors include, but are not limited to, intimidating, harassing, displaying abusive, harassing, derogatory, or demeaning materials or conduct by any attendees.

Harassment includes but is not limited to: offensive comments (verbal, written, or otherwise) related to gender, sexual orientation, race, religion, disability; inappropriate use of nudity and/or sexual images in public spaces; deliberate intimidation, stalking or unwanted following and/or contact; harassing materials, photography or recording; sustained disruption of talks or other events; inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.

Consequences of Unacceptable Behavior

Violations of the WEMSA Events Code of Conduct are determined by WEMSA in its sole discretion and any violation of these rules may be subject to verbal or written warning, expulsion from the event without the obligation to refund any fees, expulsion from future events, possible referral to the appropriate authorities, and other consequences at the discretion of WEMSA, including permanent expulsion from the WEMSA community.

What To Do if You Witness or Are Subjected to Unacceptable Behavior

If you are subjected to unacceptable behavior, notice that someone else is being subjected to unacceptable behavior, or have any other concerns, please notify WEMSA event staff as soon as possible.  WEMSA event staff are available at all events to assist those experiencing unacceptable behavior to feel safe for the duration of the event.  We also suggest that you make notice to WEMSA in writing.  You may also choose to alert venue security or hotel security, if appropriate.
