Speaker Bio
Joe Honrath started his career in Fire/EMS in 2015 with the Lisbon Fire Department. In 2016, he also began working for the City of Pewaukee Fire Department, and continued at both departments while he completed his undergraduate degree at UW-Milwaukee. After college, Joe began working as an ED Tech at Aurora-Grafton, where he was trained in ultrasound IV access. In 2021, after departing from LFD he soon thereafter began working with the Merton Fire Department where he continued his previous role as a lieutenant that he held with LFD. In 2022, Joe began at the Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine in Meridian, ID just outside of Boise. Throughout his medical education, he received longitudinal ultrasound training, and during his 2nd year he completed an elective sonography certification course to further his understanding and skills related to various POCUS techniques. Joe has completed his 3rd and 4th year clinical education in Milwaukee, WI, thanks to a collaborative partnership between ICOM and Ascension-SE WI. As he nears the completion of medical school, he is currently in the process of the residency match, where he plans to pursue a career in emergency medicine. Joe’s medical interests include EMS, wilderness medicine, and ultrasound. While in his free time he enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife, 7 month old son, and his dog, including camping, hiking, hunting, and fishing.
