Speaker Bio
I started my EMS career in January of 2005, taking a first responder course for Spring Valley Area EMS. After working on the service, I was convinced by the director that taking an EMT class in the fall of 2005, it would be easy the director ensured me, despite having a new baby, and starting a new job. I passed that EMT class and started to run as an EMT with Spring Valley, a volunteer BLS service. I joined the Spring Valley Fire Department in 2006. Falling in love with EMS and trying to juggle a family and a career, I eventually made the decision to advance my EMS career. I joined Ellsworth EMS in 2012, as they were an ALS service to get experience working with paramedics. In 2013 I was off, taking a paramedic course. After completing this course, I worked as a paramedic for Ellsworth while still serving my local community as a volunteer EMT and Fire Fighter for Spring Valley. In May of 2015 I was hired as the Chief of Baldwin Area EMS. While at Baldwin, I went on to get CCTP and CP certificates. I have helped to improve the service and our community outreach. We were one of the first services in our region to start providing Community Paramedic care to our residents. We work closely with our local hospital, Western Wisconsin Health to provide prehospital care, interfacility transport care, and community paramedic care to the community. Even as a Chief of an ALS service, I still serve my local community as an EMT and Fire Fighter with Spring Valley. I am married; we have three children. The oldest, the one that was born when I started my EMT class, is in her sophomore year at UW Madison. My second child is a senior at Baldwin Woodville High School. He just had a great senior year in football and will be attending UND in Grand Forks in the fall for commercial aviation. My youngest son is in 8th grade, not sure where he will be going to school yet after high school.
