Kate Kroes is a neonatal nurse educator with over 21 years of experience in the Neonatal ICU, Labor and Delivery, and Antepartum/Postpartum. She obtained her BSN from the University of Wisconsin and her MSN in Nursing Education from Edgewood University. In her current role as Professional Development Specialist – Neonatal Outreach, she coordinates and teaches the newborn and neonatal core curriculum content for new nurses at UPH-Meriter Hospital and American Family Children’s Hospital in Madison, WI. She has authored and coordinated the Perinatal Preceptor Workshop, created a Newborn Skills and Drills course for regional nurses and physicians, a high-risk neonate certification review course, Neonatal Resuscitation Basics for Emergency Department staff, and coordinates an NRP program that includes over 650 people. Kate serves as a neonatal content expert and consultant for the Dane County EMS Medical Advisory Council, is a long-standing member of the Dane County Fetal and Infant Mortality Review committee and is certified in high-risk neonatal nursing and as a lactation consultant. She has recently presented at the State of Wisconsin Association of Neonatal Nurses conference, the Madison Nursing Symposium, and the Wisconsin Association for Perinatal Care. Her collaborative education course "Obstetric and Neonatal Training for Emergency Department Nurses" was selected to be presented at the national AWHONN convention this past summer. Kate is always seeking out creative strategies to engage and empower providers at all levels.
