Shannon DiMarco has been involved with healthcare simulation methodology and research since 2014. With an undergraduate background in communication, and a strong interest in adult learning theories, Shannon transitioned into healthcare simulation research under Dr. Carla M. Pugh at the University of Wisconsin - Madison where she helped lead well funded research assessing clinical performance and retention of skills.
Shannon graduated from The University of Alabama at Birmingham with her Master of Science in Healthcare Simulation in December 2020. Identified as the 2020 Outstanding Student in her cohort and graduating Alpha Eta, Shannon used her experience in communication and interest in faculty development to implement new training systems for her masters capstone.
Currently, Shannon is the Administrative Director of Emergency Education and Clinical Simulation at the University of Wisconsin - Madison in a joint effort between UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. She is the CoAEMSP Site Dean for the UW Health Initial Paramedic Training Program and works to develop faculty on best practices in simulation methodology through didactic and experiential learning techniques. She sits on the External Relations Committee and Accreditation Council of the Society for Simulation in Healthcare and was a planning co-chair of IMSH 2025. Shannon began her PhD studies in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Wisconsin - Madison in fall 2021.
