                                Description
Opioid overdoses are only one piece of the toxicology puzzle. EMS providers frequently encounter complex or mixed-drug overdoses where Narcan alone isn’t enough. This session uses case-based discussion to explore assessment strategies, recognition of toxidromes, and ALS management considerations for common and dangerous overdose scenarios. Emphasis will be placed on real-world prehospital interventions, pharmacology review, and clinical decision-making to improve patient outcomes.

At the end of this session, the participants will be able to:
1. Identify common toxidromes associated with complex or mixed-drug overdoses.
2. Differentiate between opioid overdoses and other life-threatening toxicological emergencies.
3. Describe pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions relevant to the ALS provider.
4. Apply case-based critical thinking to guide treatment when standard protocols fall short.
