Whether addressing municipal boards, writing annual reports, or handling media inquiries, EMS leaders must communicate with impact. This workshop focuses on the skills needed to effectively represent your agency to both internal and external audiences. Participants will learn techniques for public speaking before government boards, crafting strategic reports that clearly outline expectations, challenges, and opportunities, and using storytelling to build community trust. The session will also address best practices for managing media relations—knowing when and how to involve the press, developing communication plans for public incidents, and responding to legal inquiries. Additional content will cover how to create professional annual reports, develop enforceable social media policies, and manage public perception online, including handling negative comments or PR crises. Scott will also cover First Amendment and social media relation issues in EMS.
