Date & Time

Description

EMS leaders are increasingly asked to review and negotiate contracts without easy access to legal counsel. This workshop will walk participants through the essentials of contract management in EMS, including municipal coverage agreements, mutual aid agreements, and vendor contracts. Special focus will be given to the challenges faced by smaller municipalities and non-profit EMS providers who are asked to extend coverage or enter into complex service arrangements. The session will also cover employment contracts, education agreements, and enforcement strategies to protect both the agency and employees. In addition, attendees will review leave of absence policies and requirements under FMLA, ADA, PTSD leave, and mental health accommodations, with guidance on what documentation is needed and how to follow a consistent process.
