Dr. Rosado is an American Board of Pediatrics board-certified in pediatrics and child abuse pediatrician with over 25 years of experience as a consultant in child maltreatment and over 15 years of experience in the documentation of ill-treatment to children in asylum and refugee cases.
After earning his MD from Universidad La Salle (Mexico City), he completed his residency training at Sinai Children’s Hospital (Chicago), serving as Chief Resident. He was appointed Medical Director of Sinai’s Child Protective Services Team (2002-2005). In 2004, he joined the Division of Child Protective Services at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County where he began doing medical evaluations for children seeking asylum and humanitarian relief in the United States. From 2013 until December, 2025, he joined the Division of Child Abuse Pediatrics at Lurie Children’s Hospital, leading its division since 2020 and leading the Child Abuse Pediatrics Fellowship program since March 2024. Dr. Rosado joined as Chief of the Division of Child Protection at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in February 2026.
He founded and co-directed Lurie’s Forensic Assessment for Immigration Relief (FAIR) Clinic, providing forensic evaluations for young asylum seekers, and founded COLAVI (Colaboracion Lationamericana Contra la Violencia Infantil), a project delivering child maltreatment education programs across Latin America and the Caribbean.
Dr. Rosado serves on the American Board of Pediatrics’ Child Abuse Pediatrics Subboard and previously served on the executive committee of the AAP’s Council on Child Abuse and Neglect (2019–2025) and the Helfer Society (2020–2023).
