Description

Many EMS professionals seek treatment for PTSD yet continue to struggle with memory problems, irritability, poor concentration, sleep disruption, emotional dysregulation, and hypervigilance. What if PTSD is only part of the story? This presentation explores the often-overlooked relationship between PTSD, mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI), chronic sleep disruption, and nervous system dysfunction. Attendees will learn why these conditions frequently overlap, how symptoms can be mistaken for one another, and why some providers continue to struggle despite seeking treatment. Through real-world examples and current evidence, participants will gain a new understanding of the invisible injuries that can accumulate throughout a career in EMS.
