Rapid Sequence Induction (RSI) is often viewed as a procedure only Paramedics need to worry about. However, the success of this procedure begins long before the laryngoscope is picked up. This presentation explores the critical role EMT’s play before, during, and after RSI. From patient assessment, preoxygenation, equipment preparation, positioning, and monitoring, EMT’s are vital to optimizing first-pass success and reducing complications. Through a combination of case examples, current evidence, and real-world experience, this session will highlight the vital role EMT’s play in the safety and efficiency of this procedure to directly influence airway outcomes.
