Description
Shock is more than hypotension and treatment is more than "give fluids." This presentation introduces a practical hemodynamic framework that helps paramedics identify whether a patient's instability is caused by a problem with the pump, the pipes, or the tank. Using real-world EMS scenarios, case studies, and interactive small-group learning, participants will learn how preload, afterload, contractility, and obstructive physiology influence patient presentation and how interventions such as fluids, vasopressors, and ventilation can help—or unintentionally harm—the patient. Attendees will leave with a simple bedside approach to understanding shock that can be immediately applied in the field.
